Gavin is our most experienced solicitor and a founding partner of the firm. Admitted as a solicitor in 1987, he has dedicated his career to the practice of criminal law and divides his time between legal aid and privately funded cases.
Andrew graduated with a degree in Scots Law from the University of Strathclyde in 1990 and a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice the following year. He completed his training in Dumfries and has been with Brazenall & Orr since 1993 becoming a partner in 1999. Andrew practices in civil law with particular emphasis on family matters, accident claims and contractual disputes. He is regularly appointed to the role of Child Welfare Reporter in cases involving issues of residence and contact for children.
Roger graduated from with a degree in Scots Law from the University of Dundee and was admitted as a solicitor in 1990. Roger has been at Brazenall and Orr for over 25 years. Roger practises in criminal law and has extensive experience practising in the Justice of the Peace Court, Sheriff Court and instructing counsel in the High Court. Roger has a keen interest in Road Traffic Law.
Liz has M.A L.L.B. and Diploma in Legal Practice from Glasgow University, she is also a Notary Public and a Solicitor Advocate with Rights of Audience in the High Court for Criminal Prosecutions. Liz has been involved in all aspects of criminal defence from Justice of the Peace Court through Sheriff Summary, Sheriff Solemn to High Court, Appeals and Parole Board work for over 30 years, having trained with Blair and Bryden in Greenock, thereafter appearing in many courts throughout Scotland before settling in Dumfries in 1998. She has represented clients in prosecutions ranging from minor road traffic matters to serious sexual offences and murder.
Liz was a member of Law Society of Scotland Criminal Law Committee for 6 years, is the current chairman of Dumfries branch of Scottish Association for Study of Offending and the Solicitor Advocate representative on the High Court Evidence on Commission User Group.
Sarah graduated from Glasgow University in 2006 and obtained her Diploma in Legal Practice from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2007. She qualified as a solicitor in 2011, having undertaken her traineeship at Brazenall and Orr, and has remained with the firm ever since. Sarah advises on family and child law, and trained as a Collaborative Lawyer with Consensus Collaborative Scotland in 2017. Other areas of her practice also include civil litigation, wills, and Powers of Attorney.
Cameron is originally from Annan and studied Scots Law at Edinburgh University graduating in 2011 and thereafter completing his Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh University in 2012. He began his traineeship with Murray Little & Knox in 2012 and qualified as a solicitor, joining Brazenall & Orr, in 2014. Cameron specialises in Family law, Civil litigation, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries. Cameron is also a Notary Public.
Stephen graduated from Strathclyde University in 1988 and completed his traineeship in Ayr before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1990. He then went on to practise Private Client work, principally residential conveyancing, for many years being based in Ayr, then Glasgow and East Kilbride. He had a hiatus from property work in 2010 when he entered the Procurator Fiscal service where he remained for 7 years before returning to private practice in Ayr in 2017. He has been with Brazenall and Orr for 3 years and again now specialises in Residential Conveyancing, Wills and Powers of Attorney.
Hollie graduated from the University of Dundee in 2023 with a Dual Qualifying (Scots and English) Law Degree with Honours. Hollie went on to obtain her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice with Merit from the University of Glasgow in 2024 and commenced her training contract with Brazenall and Orr shortly after this. Hollie supports the Conveyancing and Private Client team, assisting with residential and commercial conveyancing, will and Power of Attorney drafting and executries.
Charis has 9 years’ experience in the local residential property market and has assisted in our estate agency department since 2019. Charis prepares particulars for properties to be marketed for sale and liaises with clients ensuring our high quality estate agency is delivered every time. Charis will arrange viewings for properties on the market and if required assist with viewings. Charis is the first point of contact in our office should you decide to market your property though us.
